The Trickster God is one of the greatest enigmas of the various gods and faiths in the world; with titles like the Divine Clown, Demon-Spiter, Jester of Fate and the Wise Buffoon amongst others, his nature is varied and hard to pin down. He is normally depicted as either a short, waddling misshapen dwarf with a perpetual leer, or a handsome young man with eyes of incredible blue and his messy uncombed hair.

He first appeared just after the Great Truce was announced, following the ending of the great battle between Perang and Yesan Who Hungers. No other god was like him or behaved like him, for his pranks (played upon both mortal and god alike), rude and bawdy jokes and irreverent songs marked him out as somewhat different. In this form he was the ugly dwarflike Jester; his other aspect was as the young man who spirited the souls of lost and damned people from the clutches of the Evil deities, who fought against the evil nightmares and dreams sent by Neraka to plague the peoples of the world, and defied those who would abuse and harm defenceless mortals.

Where he came from is unknown, for he is not a child of Nerukata or Sensu, and there was no mention of him being created in the dawn of the world by the idle thoughts of Tiada. He considers himself a god apart from the Heavens, and whilst he defies and opposes the evil gods relentlessly, he shows no sign of throwing in his lot formally with the Heavenly gods. His only ally and some might say friend is Ba’Ath, whom he took under his wing when she was banished from Hell into the world by her demonic parents. Certainly, they seem to be inseparable partners in their tasks, with him aiding her in her role as the goddess of dreams and illusion, and her aiding him in his usual activities.

His temples are hidden from plain view, as is his clergy; an Initiate and Priest of Loksan is an individual who doesn’t announce the fact and likes to live below the notice of the community and the world at large. Priests have no robes different to ordinary clothes and no holy weapon or badge of office; Loksan knows his own. The tenets of the cult are loose and widely open to interpretation even amongst themselves, with the core one being never tell a truth when a joke or lie would serve you better. Flouting authority, opposing iniquity and tyranny, bending if not outright breaking rules, the average follower of Loksan is an iconoclast and borderline anarchist. He has a greater involvement with his mortal following given that he is able to manifest an avatar easily on the Mundane Plane, and this is occasionally a good and often a bad thing for he likes to keep his followers wits sharp with practical jokes and tests of worthiness.

His High Holy day takes place on one of the 5 days of The Turning, and as his little joke, he never lets his followers know for sure which day it is from year to year (it most often seems to be the Third but it never pays to assume). Any who miss it have to perform a forfeit/atonement test to regain his good graces, but ones who succeed in their task are rewarded all the more; he likes people who break rules with style, even if the rules in question are his. The 5 Days of the Turning are a time of great celebrations and reversals, and in the Armavine Empire and some of its former colonies it is sometimes called Loksania, where Patrii Amira minded patricians eat alongside (and occasionally serve food to) their servants and slaves, gifts are given and a slave or servant can speak freely to their master with candour.

His cult skills are Dodge, Fast Talk, Conceal, Sleight, Human Lore, Sneak, Hide. His followers are always using these skills and training can be found wherever there is a priest present.

Cult magic is strong and subtle, showing an inclination for trickery and evasion;

Spirit – Disruption, Glamour, Shimmer, Invisibility, Hotfoot.

Divine – All Illusions, Reflection, Lie, Group Laughter.

Loksan is regarded as a mysterious pest by most gods, and by the evil gods as intolerable vermin that must be stamped on. His only true ally is Ba’Ath, and she his. His cult is poorly understood, and some view it as a religiously motivated thieves guild (some even go so far as to say assassins guild); the truth is that Initiates and Priests of Loksan are all individuals, and whilst some are peaceable tricksters, others can be career criminals, musicians, actors, jokers and more; whatever they are or do, they are expected to be stylish and have a sense of humour.
